New international destinations continue Airport’s expansion, offer easy connections for travelers from Mexico
DFW International Airport today celebrated the launch of American Eagle Airlines daily nonstop service to a pair of new destinations in Mexico, Mazatlan and Morelia.
“DFW is very pleased to add American Eagle’s new service to Mazatlan and Morelia to the Airport’s growing international network,” said Jeff Fegan, DFW’s Chief Executive Officer. “Any new international flight can bring millions in local economic impact every year. The payoff for our citizens is tremendous, not only in terms of new business opportunities, but also with new connections that allow our passengers to easily reach almost any point around the world.”
American Eagle will serve Mazatlan with 50-seat Embraer ERJ-145 jet aircraft, and the Morelia route will utilize 44-seat Embraer ERJ-140 jet aircraft.
“We are pleased to expand American’s network in Mexico with flights to and from beautiful Mazatlan and Morelia,” said Gary Foss, Vice President of Marketing and Planning for American’s regional network. “These daily nonstop flights will link customers from throughout the states of Sinaloa and Michoacan with American’s largest hub, offering convenient connections throughout the oneworld® global network.”
The additions of Mazatlan and Morelia bring the number of destinations served or announced from DFW to a total of 191 cities, including 144 domestic and 47 international destinations.
Already in fiscal year 2011, DFW has seen the start of QANTAS Airways service between DFW and Brisbane and Sydney, Australia. American Airlines also began service to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the Caribbean island nation of Barbados.
Starting today, American Eagle also introduced new daily nonstop service to Durango, Colorado, and Grand Island, Nebraska, operating both routes with 50-seat Embraer jets. Seasonal service also resumed from Dallas/Fort Worth to Asheville, North Carolina, with one nonstop per day and from DFW to Montrose, Colorado, with two daily nonstops.
