American Airlines is launching new service from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Mexico City International Airport (MEX). Twice daily service will begin on Sept. 3, 2015.
“American Airlines knows what our customers want in Los Angeles – premium services, an unrivaled in-flight experience and a schedule that gets them where they need to go, at a time they want to fly,” said J.C. Liscano, American’s managing director of its LAX hub.
“Our new service to Mexico City is our sixth new international flight this year, putting another important business and leisure destination on the map for our customers.”
Customers traveling from Mexico City can connect to more than 50 destinations throughout American’s extensive domestic and international network from LAX including transcontinental service to New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK).
Mexico City is the airline’s sixth international flight added from its hub in Los Angeles this year. Other additions include a second daily flight to London’s Heathrow Airport; Vancouver, Canada; Belize City, Belize; Guadalajara, Mexico and Sydney, pending regulatory approvals.
The Department of Transportation gave the final approval to transfer the Los Angeles-Mexico City route authority from Alaska Airlines to American earlier this month.
