Newport Beach Film Festival to Showcase Mexican Cinema

16th ANNUAL NEWPORT BEACH FILM FESTIVAL TO SHOWCASE MEXICAN CINEMA

Festival Will Spotlight Major Mexican Film Followed by a Gala Celebration of Latino Film, Food and Culture

Newport Beach, Calif. (April 2015) – On Wednesday, April 29th, 2015 the Newport Beach Film Festival will present its 16th annual Mexican Spotlight, an evening celebration of Mexican cinema and culture. The spotlight will screen the regional premiere of the Mexican feature film One for the Road (En el Último Trago).

One for the Road is a comedy packed journey following three eighty-somethings on an unexpected road trip into unknown territory in order to fulfill the dying wish of a lifelong friend. One for the Road is directed by Jack Zagha Kababie and stars Luis Bayardo, Eduardo Manzano, José Carlos Ruiz and Pedro Weber ‘Chatanuga’.

“The Festival is exceptionally proud to showcase such strong Latino cinema,” stated Gregg Schwenk, CEO of the Newport Beach Film Festival. “One for the Road is a must see film that exceptionally blends heartfelt comedy, friendship and adventure.”

The Mexican Spotlight film will screen at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29th, 2015 at Edwards Big Newport (300 Newport Center Drive in Newport Beach, CA 92660)

The post-screening celebration will take place at 10:00 p.m. at the Via Lido Plaza (3459 Via Lido, Newport Beach, CA 92663). The event will include select tastings from top Orange County restaurants. A hosted bar provided by Stella Artois Beer, Rémy Cointreau and Tito’s Handmade Vodka.

The Newport Beach Film Festival Mexican Spotlight is supported by Via Lido Plaza, Hoy Magazine, OC Weekly, Para Todos, Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Mexico Tourism Board.

Admission to the Mexican Spotlight film and post party is $45. Post-screening party is $25.
