Musicians from around the world will fill the streets and beaches of Zihuatanejo with their distinctive sounds and styles March 5-13, 2016 at the 13th annual Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival at this popular destination on the Mexican Pacific.
The international music event will feature a series of concerts over nine days at several locations in Zihuatanejo, including the Viceroy Zihuatanejo resort (www.viceroyzihuatanejo.com) on La Ropa beach, El Palmar beach in Ixtapa and La Madera beach in Zihuatanejo.
Guitarists from many countries will perform in a wide scope of styles, from classical percussive, blues and country to international influences. Among the performers will be The Croweaters from San Francisco, Manan Gupta from India, Nick Vigarino of Washington state, the Roberto & Mehida Duo from Uruapan, Mexico, Shai Sebbag of France and Zihuatanejo’s own local legend and poet laureate, Jose Luis Cobo.
The festival will kick off with an Opening Concert on El Palmar beach with 11 artists and groups, and close with a Jam Concert and free to the public concert with multiple artists, while in between there will be aseries of smaller events such as the dinner concert on March 6 at Viceroy Zihuatanejo with acoustic guitarist and composer Maneli Jamal of Iran and Andrea Perrone of Brazil, one of the world’s few women virtuoso guitarists (pictured).

2016 marks the 13th consecutive year that Zihuatanejo hosts the popular guitar festival. Tickets are $100-200 pesos (approx. $5.50 – $11 USD) per concert, while a platinum pass for all events is $1800 pesos (approx. $100 USD).
