RIVIERA MAYA, MEXICO, December 13, 2011 – Santa Claus may be much expected by children around the world, but in Mexico the little ones await the arrival of the Three Kings who will bring the annual holiday gifts to all but disadvantaged children. This Holiday Season guests are invited to Pack for a Purpose® when visiting the Fairmont Mayakoba, the AAA Five Diamond resort in Riviera Maya.  Extra space left in luggage while packing can be used to bring joy to underprivileged children in Mexico and fulfill their holiday wishes.

Through the resort’s new “Holiday Wishes” voluntourism activity, guests visiting the hotel this December are invited to join the hotel’s employees and the non profit organization U’yo’olche A.C. by donating toys or clothes for children in neighboring Mayan communities.  For a little effort guest can enlighten the spirits of children that expect presents from the “Three Magic Kings” each year, one of the fondest traditions for kids in Mexico . Gifts donated through this program will be presented to kids on January 6th.

ABOUT THE THREE KINGS TRADITION

Three Kings Day, known as the Día de Reyes is one of the fondest traditions celebrated in Mexico on January 6th. Santa may be much expected around the world, but in Mexico each holiday season children would write letters to the Magi requesting a toy or gift and leave a shoe under the Christmas tree on the night of January 5th, the next morning, every boy and girl in Mexico wakes up with joy and their annual holiday gifts.
