Joining Mexico Today as Community Manager

“Oh, Mexico.
It sounds so sweet with the sun sinking low
Moon’s so bright like to light up the night
Make everything all right” – James Taylor

Two years ago, on this very date of June 22, was the day my epiphany turned into reality. It was the first time I sat down to create my very first blog entry and hit the ‘post’ button for the very first ‘post’. What a rush! It just so happened that my very first blog post had to do with wishing to write for Mexico Tourism.

I was reading too many negative stories about Mexico and not enough good ones. And I knew the good outweighed the bad – by far. Then I read an article that changed my life.

Since I had already been writing about Mexico for the past 10 years, blogging was a new thing for me – a new platform to provide content whenever I wanted and then share it with the world or my mom or whoever wanted to know about Mexico. I didn’t know who would be interested in the content, but it felt so good to have the freedom to create and share my positive experiences from Mexico that were real, true and coming from the heart.

The blog went through a series of transformations as I experimented on a constant basis, clicking on everything imaginable in order to get it to the shape I had envisioned.  A process, no less, but extremely rewarding on all levels.

I went on to find and develop stories that were untold, highlight success stories and bringing awareness to people, places and things someone might have never known about. Some of my articles were about dream jobs in Mexico, others have been about building successful business from the soil up. To me, behind parenthood, writing this blog was and still remains to be the best job in the world!

Today, The MEXICO Report celebrates its two-year anniversary.

Ironically, on my two-year blog anniversary, I am honored to announce that I will be working as Community Manager to “officially” report positive, real life stories and experiences about Mexico through a new initiative called  Mexico Today.  Eight (8) Community Managers and (16) Bloggers/Contributors, making a total of 24 ambassadors will cover themes under six different pillars: Economy, Security, Infrastructure, Health, Environment and Culture/Travel.

I invite you to visit them on Facebook,  Twitter and LinkedIn as well. This platform will allow me to further share the positive stories about Mexico on a whole other level.

México Today, in association with Marca País – Imagen de México, is a joint public and private sector initiative designed to help promote Mexico as a global business partner and an unrivaled tourist destination. This program is designed to shine a light on the Mexico that its people experience every day.

Honored to be part of the Mexico Today program, you will now see this badge on The MEXICO Report

Who knew that a very first blog post on June 22, 2009 – two years ago to the day –  would develop into something bigger than I imagined?  I’m feeling blessed to participate in something I love so much along with so many talented writers with such diverse backgrounds. Today I pack (and write and multitask like crazy) and tomorrow I fly to Oaxaca for the kick off meeting, where I will be convening and working with such a talented group of individuals who all share a love for all-things Mexico! Mexico querido y lindo!

Disclosure:  I am being compensated for my work in creating and managing content as a Community Manager for the México Today Program.  I am also being invited to an all-expenses paid trip to Oaxaca as part of my role.  All stories, opinions and passion for all things México shared are completely my own.
