As you know, most of my posts are about Mexico travel but I also like to showcase Latinos (in Mexico and all over the world) making a difference, uniting, giving back, highlighting successes, etc.
In this case, I didn’t have to go far for an exclusive. Taco Shop is a new comedy currently in production, co-written by award-winning writer/performer Rick Najera, (Mexican-American, a.k.a mi esposo) along with Oskar Toruno. Rick also executive produces and plays the role of ‘Gil’, the Taco Shop owner. This is a ground-breaking film not only for Latinos, but the general public.
The comedy is based on Mexican food culture, tacos to be exact. A taco shop owner is threatened when a gourmet taco truck sets up camp across the street. What happens in between, well, you’re just going to have to wait and see the movie. ‘Make Tacos – Not War‘ is the tag line.
The film stars a very popular actor (and teen heartthrob), Tyler Posey (Mexican-American, mom from Zacatecas, Mexico). He’s one of the mega stars on the MTV series ‘Teen Wolf’. Since our kids are still at the ‘Dora the Explorer’ stage, more or less, I knew nothing about Teen Wolf — until now. Very popular!
Taco Shop film is directed by Joaquin Perea and produced by Najera along with Robert A. Parada of Streetwise Entertainment, Moctesuma Esparza and Sandra Avila of Maya.
With a super talented cast of actors and comedians, Taco Shop stars Tyler Posey, Rafael Agustin, Johnny Sanchez, Carlos Alazraqui, Eric Roberts, Felipe Esparza, Jill-Michele Melean, Laura Harring, Paula Jai Parker, Parvesh Cheena among others.
