Kudos to Demián Bichir

On January 24th, 2012, the talented Demián Bichir Nájera was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in A Better Life. He was the first male Mexican actor to receive this nomination since Anthony Quinn. Bichir was born in Mexico City, Mexico, the son of actors Alejandro Bichir (Alejandro Bichir Batres) and Maricruz Nájera (María de la Cruz Nájera Botello).

Best know for his work in Sexo, Pudor y Lágrimas, In the Time of the Butterflies, Che, in Showtime’s Weeds and A Better Life.

Alongside actors George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Jean Dujardin and Gary Oldman, Bichir shined bright on Oscar Sunday. Although he didn’t take home the gold statue last Sunday, he is gold with us!  The MEXICO Report congratulates Demián Bichir on a job well done!
