Graduate of Baja Orphanage Will Run LA Marathon March 9 to Support Corazon de Vida Foundation

From an Orphanage in Baja to the ASICS LA Marathon

22-year-old Grecia Joseely Guzman Gonzalez will join TEAM CDV and run to support the orphanage in which she was raised

LOS ANGELES –  On Sunday, March 9, 2014, 22-year-old Ensenada-native Grecia Joseely Guzman Gonzalez will compete in the ASICS LA Marathon to raise funds to support the orphanage in which she was raised, in conjunction with Corazon de Vida Foundation (CDV). This will be her first marathon.

“Grecia is a shining example for the foundation,” said Hilda Pacheco-Taylor, founder of Corazon de Vida.  “Through adversity and despite abandonment, she has flourished into a gracious, hard-working young woman. Our marathon team is extremely happy to have her on board. We are her number one fans.”

Corazon de Vida (CDV) is a U.S.-based, 501c(3) non-profit organization supporting 14 different orphanages in the state of Baja California. CDV is committed to empowering and changing the lives of these children in Baja.

Grecia Joseely Guzman Gonzalez, was abandoned as a young child, and after a troubled childhood and stays at various orphanages, Grecia took root at a Corazon de Vida supported home.  Now, a recent high school graduate, she is preparing to take the Autonomous University of Baja “UABC” entrance exam in 2014, and plans to be a nurse. Grecia is a resident of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, and has recently been awarded a temporary U.S. visitor’s visa.

Enrollment is open to join Team CDV for the 2014 ASICS LA Marathon. Each member will run for an orphaned child and will proudly wear their sponsored child’s face pinned onto their running jersey, with the motto “Don’t Just Run, BE A HERO.” To support Team CDV, visit http://www.corazondevida.org/team-cdv.

Corazon de Vida Foundation (CDV) has served the orphaned children of Baja since 1994, and currently supports 14 orphanages.  CDV provides funding, educational support, health services, and frequent cross-border trips to orphanages, having lead tens of thousands of volunteers and supported thousands of orphaned children.

Founded by Hilda Pacheco-Taylor, former resident of one of the same orphanages her foundation now funds, Corazon de Vida is celebrating its 20-year anniversary in 2014.
