Back in June 2009, the perfect storm of ideas hit me after reading an article about a guy who won the ‘Best Job in the World’ contest. Ben Southall won the highly sought-after job as ‘Blogger’ and caretaker of the idyllic Hamilton Island on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, complete with salary and housing at a luxury villa.
As this time rolls around each year, I see stories on him, reminding me of the reason I started what I did.
Come this June, I will be celebrating the third anniversary of the day I plunged into the blogosphere and created The MEXICO Report, with pure intentions of just sharing my love of Mexico and highlighting the stories and everyday happenings that people don’t really hear about much in the mainstream media. I wanted people to get to know Mexico from a different perspective and see it in a different light.
Ironically, last June I received an email inquiry from a communications firm on asking if I was interested in blogging about Mexico. Needless-to-say, I quickly jumped on board. All of the stories I wrote during that special six months are located in the tab above called ‘Mexico Today‘.
As luck (and timing) would have it, I’m thrilled to report that I’ve been asked to continue my work with Mexico Today as Community Manager, in the spirit of sharing more good news about Mexico. During the next six months, in addition to my regular posts, you will see occasional articles relating back to the Mexico Today website, Facebook page and Tweets with hashtag #MexicoToday.
Always in a global effort to foster and strengthen positive relations with Mexico, thank you for subscribing, reading and sharing the news as well. Even though I’ve been traveling to Mexico for many years, I find that I’m always getting to know Mexico better and that will always be the goal with this site.
